Film for Thought: Earth Emergency (with panel discussion and reception to follow)

Wednesday August 10th, 6PM
Told by leading climate scientists, Earth Emergency examines four of the major warming feedback loops threatening our planet: Forests, Permafrost, Albedo and Atmosphere.

This special edition of Film for Thought will include a panel discussion following the film featuring the filmmakers and scientists from the Woodwell Climate Research Center, as well as a cocktail reception afterwards.

The Rossini Club Presents "Ghosts of Mozart"

In a series featuring works by composers over the last three centuries, The Rossini Club will be chronicling the influence and impact of Mozart on Carl Maria von Weber, Camille Saint-Saëns and Francis Poulenc, all devotees of the older master.

Featuring:  Paul Chinen – oboe, Nick Davies – clarinet, Valerie Sly – horn, Ivy Ringel –  bassoon and Jennifer Lee – piano.

This special presentation of Do the Right Thing is presented in partnership with MUSACK, and free to Dreamland members! Don’t miss a special introduction and Q&A at 7:30pm, featuring host DONICK CARY in a live Zoom conversation with the one-and-only FLAVOR FLAV, a former member of Public Enemy, which wrote and recorded the classic anthem “Fight the Power” for this Spike Lee joint.

Don McLean is a Grammy award honoree, a Songwriter Hall of Fame member, a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and his smash hit “American Pie” resides in the Library of Congress National Recording Registry and was named a top 5 song of the 20th Century by the Recording Industry of America (RIAA).

Dreamland Presents: A Survivor's Story & Reception

Saturday August 20th 6PM
Amanda Knox is an American author, activist, and journalist. She spent almost four years in an Italian prison following her wrongful conviction of the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher, a fellow exchange student with whom she shared an apartment in Perugia, Italy. In 2015, Knox was definitively acquitted by the Italian Supreme Court. She now resides in Seattle, Washington with her husband and daughter. She’s since written a best-selling memoir entitled Waiting To Be Heard. Amanda will take part in a moderated discussion from The Dreamland’s main stage, followed by a question-and-answer period, and book signing to follow.
