Theatre for Youth and Families

Misson – To provide quality theatre experiences with, for, and by young people.   We seek to offer quality programming for children and families of all ages.  We  invite our audience into the experience of theatre to engage, entertain, and invite discussion.   We believe in the creation of high quality theatre for all children, families and communities to see their own thoughts, feelings and experiences portrayed onstage.

We offer a variety of programming, including Theatre for Young Audiences, Theatre for the Very Young, and Theatre for Audiences of all ages.

Registration is now open for our Summer Sessions!  To sign up for our multi-aged workshops and performance camps, click on the Summer Registration Tab.

Laura’s Corner

Hello and welcome to Laura’s Corner! As the incoming Director of Education, I want to provide a space for you to visit to learn about what we have planned, what ideas are flourishing for the future, and, find out about what I’ve been doing as well! I’m currently putting the finishing touches on my film thesis, and will earn my Masters in Theatre Education at Emerson College in May! My undergraduate degree is the Bachelor’s of Music in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah University, which was recently named one of the 10 best schools for Musical Theatre. I am a member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, National Association of Teachers of Singing, American Alliance for Theatre Education, and Theatre for Young Audiences.

I am currently the musical theatre,  music and theatre teacher at Cyrus Peirce Middle School here on Nantucket, and am also directing the Nantucket High School production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which opens in March. When I’m not teaching or directing, I have been busy with planning the upcoming Dreamland Season – connecting with new and innovative playwrights, teaching artists and other collaborators to create a wonderful season of workshops and performances for children and families. I believe it is crucial to provide plays for and about young people, and for those works to provide our diverse community with opportunities to learn and grow through theatre and the arts.

I hope Laura’s Corner has given you a glimpse of what my vision is for The Dreamland Education Program. One of the most important aspects of this column is to provide a place where you can easily contact me. Please feel free to ask a question, share an idea, or just say hello! My direct e-mail is Curious about our Fall and Winter Programming? You’ll have to wait for the next Laura’s Corner to find out! Stay tuned!

See you at the theatre!
