Development Associate

Nantucket Dreamland Foundation (NDF) seeks a creative, entrepreneurial and hands-on fundraising professional for the position of Development Associate.

About NDF
The Nantucket Dreamland is dedicated to enriching the cultural and intellectual life of Nantucket by providing year-round films, educational programs, and a venue for activities that engage Nantucket in the evolving world of digital entertainment and education in one of America’s oldest theaters.

Position Summary
The Development Associate reports directly to the Executive Director and will assist in building and implementing a strong overall fundraising strategy for the Dreamland Foundation.

Management Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of this position are event management, donor relations and data management and entry, board development, and communications.

Minimum Education/Prior Experience/Qualifications Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree is required or qualified related work experience.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, project management and communication skills.
  3. The ability to convey the mission and accomplishments of the Dreamland’s programs to a diverse group of supporters;
  4. Excel at working independently as well as in close collaboration with other teams;
  5. Proficient in fundraising databases (preferably Raisers Edge), email marketing systems and Microsoft Office.
  6. Desire to learn about different channels of fundraising.
  7. A high level of organization and attention to detail, including the ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines;
  8. Successful completion of criminal offender record information and sexual offender registry information checks.

BOX OFFICE ATTENDANT

PART-TIME POSITION

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide guests with a positive initial experience at the Dreamland Theater. This experience is created by aiding guests with accurate show times and event information as well as assisting them in purchasing and/or picking up tickets to Dreamland events. This position is expected to work cohesively with all employees of the Dreamland Theater in maintaining an extremely high level of guest service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide all guests a positive first impression of the Dreamland Theater by offering superior, individualized guest service.
  • Accurately operate the POS ticketing software system to sell tickets for events.
  • Problem-solve by effectively communicating with guests to locate and deliver will-call/guest list tickets.
  • Provide information regarding all events being held at the Dreamland Theater.
  • Provide superior customer service to all internal clients.
  • Assist with miscellaneous box office projects as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Capability of communicating positively with guests to establish their needs efficiently and courteously.
  • Ability to handle cash responsibly and accurately.
  • Ability to develop a growing knowledge of Dreamland ticketing software and POS systems.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights and weekends – including some Holidays.

CONCESSION ATTENDANT

PART-TIME POSITION

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of the concession attendant is to serve the guest in a timely manner and ensure guest satisfaction.  They must be knowledgeable about show times and events.  This position is expected to work cohesively with all employees of the Dreamland Theater in maintaining an extremely high level of guest service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide all guests a positive first impression of the Dreamland Theater by offering superior, individualized guest service.
  • Accurately operate the concession POS software system to sell goods and merchandise.
  • Ability to multitask and to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Assist with miscellaneous concession projects as directed.
  • Daily and continuous cleaning of concession stands, equipment and public areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to handle cash responsibly and accurately.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to develop a growing knowledge of Dreamland ticketing software.
  • Flexibility to work days, nights and weekends – including some Holidays.

USHER

PART-TIME POSITION

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility of our ushers is to make each guest feel welcomed to the Dreamland Theater.  The ushers must be knowledgeable about the event or screening that he or she is working including all upcoming events.  This position is expected to work cohesively with all employees of the Dreamland Theater in maintaining an extreme level of guest service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide superior customer service to all internal clients.
  • Provide guest assistance in theaters when needed.
  • Allow or disallow access into theaters based on credentials.
  • Help guests locate their assigned seats and reporting any ticketing problems to a supervisor.
  • Provide guests with directions or other venue information.
  • Act upon all comments/complaints in a prompt and friendly manner.
  • Daily and continuous cleaning of theaters and public areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required!
  • A team player. Must work well with others.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility  to work days, nights and weekends – including some Holidays.

PROJECTIONIST

PART-TIME POSITION

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Projectionists are responsible for ensuring that films (and any associated advertisements or trailers) are projected at the correct times, and without any technical problems.  A great deal of care and attention is required in order to achieve smooth running operation, resulting in standards of presentation that are acceptable to modern audiences and the Dreamland Theater standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To ensure films and other media run smoothly and on time.
  • Working knowledge of all projection equipment and how to operate it.
  • Ability to ingest films and key’s when needed.
  • Ability to trouble shoot all projection equipment in a timely manner.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Provide superior customer service to all internal clients.
  • Provide guest assistance in theaters when needed.
  • Responsible for theater lighting when starting screenings.
  • To monitor ventilation and alarms dealing with projectors.
  • Checking that sound is operating properly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to develop a growing knowledge of Dreamland projection equipment.
  • Ability to solve technical problems calmly and efficiently.
  • Ability to work under pressure, sometimes in relative silence.
  • Must be self-motivated, as they may work alone, often during anti-social hours.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • A commitment to achieving the best results for their audiences.
  • A high level of computer knowledge and technical skills.
  • A willingness to work alone.
  • Good eyesight, hearing and coordination.
  • Reliability and excellent time-keeping.
